Ezra's Soccer Debate

The game of soccer is incredibly special to people all around the world. Around 250 million people play soccer every year, including me. I play for Illinois Futbol Club and we travel around Illinois playing teams from Bloomington, Chicago, and even Carbondale. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I started at one of those little league programs from soccer planet. All we did during those get-togethers was play scrimmages on small pug nets. It was not very fun but I did not want to quit. This is because I really enjoyed kicking a ball around with my dad in the backyard. When I turned eight, my family got this huge rebounder for me to practice on. About once a week, I would have my friend come over and we would play a short one on one scrimmage. This really helped me improve and so when I joined IFC, I made the orange team (which is the better team).

When I went to Barcelona in 2015, I got to see how truly competitive and interesting the game of soccer is. My family lived there for almost three months and my favorite memory was I remember going to see a soccer game and the experience was incredible.

The game was between Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona. At the time, all I knew was that Messi played for F.C.B. and that Ronaldo played for Real Madrid. I would later learn that this is one of the most competitive rivalries in all of soccer. During the game, these snack venders went around and instead of selling hot dogs, they sold meat sandwiches and cheesy baguettes. Anyways, the final score of the game was 2-1, Barcelona won. As a result, there were parties going on all around the city. This is when I understood how significant soccer is to the world.

Soccer was invented in 1863 in London, England. The game started out casually but in the early 1930s, many competitive European leagues were formed. For example, the Spanish league, La Liga, and the French league, Ligue 1 were both formed before 1935.

According to Bleacherreport, the best league is the English Premier league. However, in my opinion, La Liga is the best club soccer league. This is because La Liga has many incredible players such as Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezman.

When Christiano Ronaldo played for Real Madrid, La Liga was definitely the best league. This is because Ronaldo and Messi would face off twice a year. However, since he now plays for Juventus, it is much harder to compare their skills. That is why, this website will have the most up to date and accurate facts on both of these incredibly players.
